Details: The Lee's Summit Symphony is putting on a full patriotic concert at The Pavilion at John Knox Village on June 27 at 7 p.m. The program includes classics like Stars and Stripes Forever and God Bless America, plus soloists, patriotic readings, and a color guard representing every branch of the military. It's a great way to kick off the America 250 celebrations early. Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for students ages 3 to 18.
Legacy Blast 2026 | July 2
Details: Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation is hosting a free fireworks celebration at Legacy Park on July 2. Gates open at 5 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:30 p.m., choreographed to music and simulcast on 94.9 KCMO. There will be food trucks, concessions, DJs, and activities for kids 12 and under. Heads up, the gates have been closing as early as 8:30 p.m. in recent years once parking fills up, so plan to arrive early.
Independence Day Celebration in Independence, MO | July 2
Details: Head to 937 W. Walnut Street on July 2 for a free evening of food trucks, games, music, and fireworks. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and fireworks kick off at 9:30 p.m. It's put on by the City of Independence and the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and all ages are welcome.
Red, White & Blue Springs 2026 | July 3
Details: Blue Springs is going all out for America's 250th with this free celebration at Wilbur Young Park on July 3 from 3 to 10 p.m. Expect food trucks, local vendors, family entertainment, contests, and live music from The Suburbans. New this year is a 300-piece drone show leading into the fireworks finale starting at 9:15 p.m. No registration needed, just bring your lawn chairs or blankets and show up.
Sparks & Stripes in Oak Grove | July 3
Details: Oak Grove is celebrating America's 250th in a big way at Bent Oak Park on July 3. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the fireworks show this year is the biggest they've ever done. There's a DJ, face painters, balloon artists, and even a tethered hot air balloon ride if the weather cooperates. A solid lineup of food trucks will be on site including BBQ, tacos, pizza, and more. Bring your yard games and plan to stay for the show. Shuttle service is available from City Hall if you want to avoid the parking crunch.
Independence Day at Missouri Town | July 4
Details: Spend the Fourth the old-fashioned way at Missouri Town Living History Museum in Lee's Summit. Running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., this one takes you back to 19th century life with a parade through the village, historic tradesmen, hearth cooking demos, and old-school games the whole family can get into. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for kids 5-13 and seniors 62+, and free for kids 4 and under.
